Why have a
Website
According to a report published by International Technology and Trade Associates entitled
The State of the Internet 2001, "the online population crossed the half billion milestone". Also, the demographics of the online population began to more accurately reflect the offline demographics with approximately 45% of the online population being native English speakers. "While North America, Europe, and Japan continue dominate the online world, several other nations such as China, India, and South Korea began to play larger roles."
What this means is that the Internet is truly becoming a global communication tool. Websites are all about communication. Whether you just want to advertise or sell products and services that you offer, share photos and information with a community or group, or create a community of people with similar interests all over the world.
It has been argued that for business purposes, having a website is as important as having a phone or a listing in the Yellow Pages. There are a large number of people
that view a company or organization as unprofessional if they do not have a website.
In addition to giving a business or organization credibility, a website can also reduce or eliminate expenses. Many businesses have reduced their expenses for printing, faxing, postage, long-distance, and customer service by moving their sales and support materials to the Web. This gives their customers access to these resources 24 hours a day at their convenience.
